Watching the rise of Kendrick Lamar has definitely been interesting, as the underdog finally won and he won big time. In the current landscape of hip hop, rappers don’t drop classic albums nor do they drop platinum albums. Kendrick Lamar managed to do both his first time out.
Ironically, Kendrick Lamar made bigger news with “Control” than he did with good kid, m.A.A.d. city. On the song in which he has a guest verse, Kendrick Lamar called out the entire rap game, save Jay-Z, Nas, and Eminem. Since then, Kendrick Lamar has been pit against Drake and they have taken shots.
Kendrick Lamar initially told the world he would take time off instead of following good kid, m.A.A.d. city with a new album immediately. This is a promise Kendrick Lamar kept, as he continued promoting the album into 2013. Now, it appears as if he is moving on, as he told Rob Markman he has plans of a new LP.
