Kendrick Lamar talks “To Pimp A Butterfly” with MTV [VIDEO]

Kendrick Lamar 11When he released his last album, Kendrick Lamar easily became the hottest rapper in the game. The 2011-2012 period was a time when hip hop was looking for its next star. Kendrick Lamar filled this position, off co-signs from Game and Snoop Dogg, leading him to Dr. Dre.

Kendrick Lamar took time off from the mainstream after good kid, m.A.A.d. city was released. While fans were disappointed, Kendrick Lamar said it was all a part of his process. With To Pimp A Butterfly out now, Kendrick Lamar said there will be another hiatus for the next LP.

Currently, Kendrick Lamar is doing his media rounds and Rob Markman sat down with him for an MTV exclusive. Of course, Kendrick Lamar discussed the new album and he broke down the tracks. He explained each track on the album and revealed he originally planned to name his album To Pimp A Caterpillar, acronym meaning To Pac, or Tupac.
