Kendrick Lamar is only 33-years-old and is already regarded as one of the best artists of all-time. Despite not releasing an album since 2017 with ‘Damn,’ his impact is still felt as fans wait for his fourth studio album to finally drop.

This summer, Lamar reached an impressive accomplishment for his sophomore album, ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city.’ That is becoming the longest-charting hip-hop studio album in Billboard 200 history. Lamar broke this record after surpassing the 400-week mark.

Today is also the day that good kid, m.A.A.d city made its first appearance on the Billboard 200 chart back in 2012 when it was released, according to Chart Data. The original release date was October 22 as the album ended up reaching No. 2 on this chart. It was headlined by hit singles such as “B*tch, Don’t Kill My Vibe,” “Poetic Justice” featuring Drake, and “Swimming Pools.”

At this point, good kid, m.A.A.d city is at 3x platinum status in the US. To this day, it’s still recognized by many hip-hop fans as Lamar’s best project. Each album he’s released since then such as 2015’s ‘To Pimp A Butterfly‘ and Damn have met GKMC’s success but fans wonder when Lamar will release an album with the same energy and storytelling that this project did. In the end though, fans just want another album by him to come out soon as Damn was last released in April 2017.
