Anyone following the mixtape game knows Kevin Gates has been around for quite some time. Casual fans would consider him new, since his commercial breakthrough was “2 Phones.” A lot has changed with him over the years.

Kevin Gates is among the rappers who received co-signs from Gucci Mane when he was on the comeup. Coincidentally, Kevin Gates would rise to stardom while Gucci was in prison. Last week saw Gucci Mane finally released from prison.

Recently, Kevin Gates stopped by Power 106 and spoke to J Cruz about his new moves. The conversation centered around Gucci Mane coming out of prison, which brought up his own prison stint. Since coming out of prison, Kevin Gates has dominated with his music.
