Anything in life is possible, but sometimes sacrifice is necessary. A decade ago, DJ Khaled became the top DJ in Miami, as he was the leading host on 99 Jamz. His radio gig, plus being Fat Joe’s official DJ made it look like Khaled was at the top of his game.
But, DJ Khaled saw more and he used his contacts to put out records and soon became well-known. His ability to unite artists led to Def Jam making him an executive and granting him a label. This deal allowed for him to sign Ace Hood.
DJ Khaled’s Def Jam deal looked like the biggest deal of his career, but it pales in comparison to his new deals with Jay Z and L.A. Reid. The new management deal helped DJ Khaled broker a deal with Apple Music, giving him a radio show. In promotion of his work with Apple Music, Khaled did a video with Naomi Campbell and he got the chance to kiss her.
