Kid Cudi is often overlooked, when it comes to discussing the top rappers in the game. In addition to an incredible mixtape run, Kid Cudi had commercial success in 2009. His single, “Day ‘n’ Nite,” put Kid Cudi on the map. On the commercial level, Kid Cudi is a little more than a one hit wonder.
Kid Cudi also deserves credit for putting Cleveland back on the map. Prior to Kid Cudi, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony were the only notable hip hop acts to come from Cleveland. After that, Kid Cudi came, and helped put a spotlight on Cleveland rappers for the industry. Not only that, but Kid Cudi also puts out dope music.
Kid Cudi rose to fame as a member of G.O.O.D. Music. However, as the company grew, Kid Cudi began to form a rift with the company. Longtime friends with Big Sean, Kid Cudi was upset when he began dating Jhene Aiko, as she used to date Dot Da Genius. In the middle of his album promo, Kid Cudi abruptly left G.O.O.D. Music. Over the past year, Kid Cudi has begun beefing with Kanye West.
Kid Cudi, ironically, replaced Kanye West as Rolling Loud’s headliner. The turn of events is ironic, given Kid Cudi’s history with Kanye West, and vice versa. Some people who were not fans of Kid Cudi were present for his Rolling Loud performance. While Kid Cudi was trying to perform, people began throwing objects at him. As a result, Kid Cudi stopped the show, and said he would leave if anything else was thrown at him. Seconds later, more objects were thrown, and Kid Cudi left.
