Klay Thompson crowned “Real MVP” by #Warriors fans on Twitter who say he should now lead the team

Klay Thompson MVPThe past two years have seen the Golden State Warriors grow, arguably, the biggest fanbase in NBA history. With social media becoming the primary form of communication, Golden State has won out. Their backcourt duo of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson won fans.

Steph Curry was the undeniable leader of the Splash Brothers, up until the middle part of this season. While Klay Thompson had his moments, most agreed Steph was the man. But, his late season injuries and playoff meltdowns have led to fans changing their opinions.

Last night, the Warriors were on the brink of elimination and it looked as if nothing Steph Curry did could change that. But, Klay Thompson stepped up and helped send the series against OKC back to Oracle. Twelve hours after his herculean effort, Twitter is still talking, anointing Klay the “real,” “new,” and “next” MVP, Finals MVP, 2017 MVP, and Warriors’ new captain.

Still, more than likely, things would be much different if Steph Curry was 100% healthy and the series would have been closed out long before game seven. And, there is still Monday to overcome.
