Klay Thompson scores first points and dunks on two Cavs
Lately, the Golden State Warriors have been struggling. This came after they raced out to the NBA’s best record. During this span of time, they have allowed the Phoenix Suns to overtake them, despite being 2-1 against them, on the season.
Klay Thompson hasn’t played a game for the Warriors since the 2019 NBA Finals. During that series, Kevin Durant went down, Klay went down, and then Steph Curry went down. It didn’t take long for the Warriors to implode, falling to the NBA’s worst record.
Last season, Steph Curry was motivated, putting up MVP numbers. While he showed the world he was still a great player, it didn’t do much for the Warriors. Yes, they achieved a winning record, and made the postseason, but they lost to the Lakers and Grizzlies, failing to make the playoffs.
Redemption was in mind, this season, as Steph Curry is again playing like an MVP. The roster has gelled and the Warriors are back winning like it’s 2014, as they’re surprising the league, again. All of the anticipation has been about Klay Thompson finally returning. Even Klay said he was surprised that the Warriors are this good. With him coming back, they’ll be that much better. It’s fitting he’d return for their only home game, against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Klay Thompson isn’t expected to be his full self, this season, and that’s perfectly fine. But, he scored his first points in 941 days, against the Cavs. Moments later, Klay proved he’s better than expected, as he dunked on two Cavs.
