What Kobe Bryant did, for the NBA, no one else could. He went down in history as the greatest Laker of all-time. In fact, Kobe Bryant did the impossible, becoming the iconic franchise’s all-time leading scorer.
At the time of his retirement, Kobe Bryant led the Lakers to their last five championships, at the time they had sixteen titles. In 2006, he set the franchise’s record for points in a game, at 81. He retired the NBA’s third-greatest scorer.
Kobe Bryant set an NBA record, for a player in his final game, scoring 60 points. This capped a historic career, as the only player to spend twenty years with one team, as he did with the Los Angeles Lakers, 1996-2016, before his tragic death, last year. Now, the sports icon is being posthumously honored, with a statue at the National Garden of American Heroes, later this year.
