In 2017, Kyrie Irving abruptly left the Cleveland Cavaliers, a year after they won their first championship. Game 5, against the Golden State Warriors ended up being the last time Kyrie wore a Cavs jersey. After that, he was traded to the Boston Celtics, as he wanted to lead his own team.
Kyrie Irving spent two years with the Celtics, missing the playoffs in 2018, due to injuries. Fully healthy, the Celtics underperformed in 2019, only going 49-33, and landing at fourth in the East. In the playoffs, the Celtics would fall in five games to Giannis’ Bucks.
Since 2019, Kyrie Irving has played for the Brooklyn Nets, joined by Kevin Durant. During the first season, KD was out due to injuries, and last season Kyrie went down with injuries. Still, the team added James Harden, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Blake Griffin. None of that mattered, as the Nets still lost to the Bucks, in Game 7 of the second round, in 2021. Milwaukee raised the championship banner that many felt would belong to Brooklyn.
This week, Kyrie Irving returned to Cleveland, when the Nets played the Cavs. During the game, some fans began heckling Kyrie. Forever outspoken, Irving cursed at the fans, calling them “ungrateful.” Now, the NBA has fined Kyrie Irving $25,000 for doing that.
