Latto gets panned for doing Left Eye’s Waterfalls verse
Latto slowly grinded to become one of music’s biggest names. Like so many successful rappers, she is another one from Atlanta. Also, like so many other female rappers, she has had tension with Nicki Minaj, which seems like the process. Being the most popular female rapper in Atlanta led to Latto receiving an iconic opportunity. TLC performed at the iHeartRadio Music Awards and they had Latto to perform with them on “Waterfalls.” She did Left Eye’s verse and the fans were not pleased with it.
Latto was likely influenced by Left Eye, who was one of the first successful Southern female rappers. As one third of TLC, Left Eye was once the most commercially recognized female rappers. With being one third of the group, she was also the highest selling. However, Left Eye never had the chance to fully develop a solo career. As a result, many of her accomplishments have been either overlooked or forgotten, as she passed in 2002, and TLC’s lumped in as an R&B group.
Latto is a fixture on the Atlanta music scene. Similarly, TLC had the same hold on the game from 1993 until 2000. Once their run ended, they had trouble mounting their comeback. When they finally made the move, Left Eye had her unfortunate accident, which led to her demise. Both T-Boz and Chilli have tinkered with reality TV since the unofficial disbanding of TLC. Last night, they were back, and Latto was with them. However, the fans were making fun of her “Waterfalls” performance.
