Latto’s “Big Energy” goes 2x platinum
Latto continues to grow her superstardom, ever since her breakout 2020. That year, her “B*tch From Da Souf” remix with Saweetie and Trina went viral, and it was only up from there. Her “Queen Of Da Souf” debut album that year, was also very successful. Latto soon earned backlash for her stage name at the time, “Mulatto.” But, she rebranded, and won even more.
2021 saw Latto score her biggest hit of her career so far, with “Big Energy.” It peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This spring, it even earned a remix, that featured Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled. Big Energy also appeared on Latto’s sophomore album, “777,” this past spring. That project saw a number 16 debut, on the Billboard 200 chart. Last week, Big Energy was named the Song of the Year, at the 2022 BET Hip-Hop Awards.
Now, Big Enegry has achieved another major milestone. According to Chart Data, it is now certified 2x platinum in the US. This comes after selling over 2 million units. In addition to this certification, Latto also becomes the first solo female rap song in history to spend 50 weeks on the Hot 100.
