Lauryn Hill Becomes First Female Rapper To Earn a Diamond Certification By RIAA, It Is For Her Debut Studio Album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill”

Despite only releasing one studio album, Lauryn Hill is still regarding as one of the greatest female rappers to ever do it. “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” was released back in 1998 and is also hailed as a classic to this day.

According to Chart Data, this album has reached another very impressive milestone. It has been certified as diamond status by the RIAA in the US. This now makes Hill the first female rapper to go diamond by the RIAA. Her and the Fugees also earned four more platinum plaques today.

The biggest record to come from “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” is “Doo Wop (That Thing).” That record debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It is also certified gold in the US. “Ex-Factor” and “Everything Is Everything” were the other two singles from the album.

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill contained 16 tracks in total with appearances by Carlos Santana, Mary J Blige, and D’Angelo. “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and “Tell Him” were the two “hidden tracks” from the album.
