LeBron James was blunt, when he said the Los Angeles Lakers do not have shooters. The frustration was evident on his face. However, when LeBron said he believes the Lakers could still be a successful team, that sounded more like wishful thinking. Though it’s only been two games, the Lakers look more like the 33-49 team of last season than the 2021 team that began 22-7.
LeBron James remains one of the best athletes in all of sports. However, reality is also catching up. The fact of the matter is that LeBron is almost 38-years-old. In addition, this year is his twentieth year in the NBA. As a result, his teams not being as competitive is to be expected. Even Michael Jordan failed to lead his teams into the playoffs, during the final two years of his career. It looks like LeBron may face the same reality with the Lakers.
LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are playing an early game against the Portland Trail Blazers. In the second quarter, the Lakers were down by eight points to the Trail Blazers. Since the game was early, and the team needed a spark, LeBron tried to come through for him. At the tip of the logo, LeBron went for a shot that he has gotten used to making, over the past seven years. However, today that shot did not fall for LeBron. Not only did the shot not hit the rim, but it also did not hit anything but the Lakers’ name on the court. In other words, an airball.
