Perhaps the most surprising moment on “Empire” came before the season finale. Of course, the internet is buzzing about someone with a build just like Anika (Grace Gealey) pushed Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) down the staircase. But, Jamal (Jussie Smollett) got a girl.
Lucious (Terrence Howard) is all over himself after finding out Jamal got with a girl. Upon discovering Jamal was “hitting that,” meaning Skye Summers (Alicia Keys), Lucious was over the moon. However, some fans were disappointed in the openly gay character going straight.
This prompted Lee Daniels and Jussie Smollett, both openly gay men, to discuss this with TV Insider. During the interview, the men opened up on the natural connection between Jamal and Skye and Daniels said before being gay, they are human, sexual, beings and every now and again they want to sleep with women. Smollett said Alicia Keys would be the woman to turn a gay man straight.
