Barbara Walters passes away at 93

On Friday night, news broke on social media, that legendary journalist and broadcaster Barbara Walters, had passed away. At the time, she was 93-years-old. According to People, Walters “passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones.” Rep Cindi Berger confirmed the news, to the outlet, as Walters was at her New York City home.

“She lived her life with no regrets,” Berger added. “She was a trailblazer not only for female journalists, but for all women.”

Walters worked at some of the biggest television networks in the industry, such as CBS and ABC. She initially began her career on The Today Show, in the early 1960s. There, Walters served as a writer and segment producer, regarding topics of women’s interest stories.

Walters would also go on to create “The View,” on ABC. She worked with that program from 1997-2014, which was when she officially retired from broadcasting. Walters was inducted into the Television Hall Of Fame in 1989, and even earned a Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star, in 2007. 2000 also saw her receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
