Lil Durk donates $50,000 in scholarships to two Howard University students from Chicago, and $250,000 to Howard’s GRACE Grant
Lil Durk gifts two Howard University students scholarships
Over the past decade, Lil Durk has established himself as one of the hottest rappers in the industry. In 2022, the Chicago native also went on to score his first number one album on the Billboard 200 chart, which was “7220.”
In addition to Durk’s musical success, he is also giving back to communities in major ways. According to The Shade Room, he has announced the launch of his Durk Banks Endowment Fund, which is in collaboration with Amazon Music. As a result, Durk is gifting two Howard University students from Chicago, $50,000 each, in scholarships.
The students were announced at Howard’s 2023 Springfest event, on Friday. 20 initially participated in Durk’s Neighborhood Heroes HBCU College & Career Readiness Cohort Program.
Meanwhile, Durk is also helping out Howard University in other donations. He has gifted the school $250,000 to their GRACE Grant. This program was started in order assist students in paying their tuition. According to the university, recipients of the grant saw a 15% increase in retention and a four-year graduation rate of 78%. This is a 32% increase, compared to those who didn’t receive the grant’s funds.
