Lil Mama and Alicia Keys hug after first meeting in years

Lil’ Mama infamously crashed Alicia Keys’ and Jay-Z’s performance, during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. The two were performing Jay’s hit single, “Empire State of Mind.” Towards the end of the performance, Lil’ Mama walked on stage and crashed the ending. As a result, she faced much backlash for years. However, she has enjoyed a career resurgence as an actress. Now she has finally seen Alicia Keys face-to-face. The ladies shared a warm embrace.

Lil’ Mama was once considered the most promising rising artist in the game. Co-signed by Lil’ Kim, she had real movement, early in 2007. During the first part of 2007, Lil’ Mama dominated radio, BET, and MTV with her single, “Lip Gloss.” A year later, she proved she was no one hit wonder, when she dropped the major hit, “Shawty Get Loose,” with T-Pain. After that, she had the VMAs incident and she wound up on the wrong side of Nicki Minaj.

Lil’ Mama began acting in 2012 and her career took back off. First, she took on the role of Left Eye in the TLC biopic. After that, she began a string of acting roles. Her most popular film was the TV One original movie, The Falicia Blakely Story. That movie saw Lil’ Mama playing alongside Lance Gross and Tami Roman. Now she has returned to the top of the industry. A year ago, Alicia Keys gave her take on Lil’ Mama crashing the VMAs. Now they have run into each other, greeting one another with a hug.
