Lil Wayne announces Hot Boys reunion

 

The hip-hop world is about to relive one of it’s finest moments, with an unexpected link up. In a thrilling announcement, Lil Wayne confirms that an iconic Hot Boyz reunion is happening this Fall. The celebration is set to take place at this year’s Lil WeezyAna Fest in his hometown of New Orleans.

During the late 1990’s, the sound of Southern music changed drastically, especially the hip-hop world. The Hot Boyz emerging from Louisiana, rose to fame under  Cash Money Records. The group consisting of Lil Wayne, Juvenile, Turk and B.G., dominated the rap world. Additionally, their second studio album Guerrilla Warfare, topped Billboard charts, debuting at number 5. That album is also certified platinum and included the anthem “I Need A Hot Girl”.

Despite the group’s overnight success, they split ways in 2001. Juvenile publicly stated “financial mismanagement”, but never disclosed any further information about the separation. Nonetheless, the group gave fans their 2003 album Let Em Burn, which included previously recorded singles. Since their split, each of them followed their own paths. Lil Wayne who stayed with Cash Money, became an iconic rapper. Juvenile also found worldwide solo fame with his albums Solja Rags and 400 Degreez. The latter of the two went quadruple platinum and was supported by hit singles “Ha” and “Back That A** Up”. Remaining members Turk and B.G., continued making music but unfortunately both faced legal issues and incarceration. Nonetheless, the group have all stayed good friends throughout the years.

This reunion is particularly significant due to the fact that,  all of the members including B.G., will be in attendance. B.G., recently was released from prison after a lengthy sentence.
