Lil Wayne may release “Rebirth” as a Double Album
After ending his three year hiatus with 2008’s Tha Carter III, Lil Wayne has been involved in the most projects. For most of 2009, Wayne has been rumored to be working on three albums.
Initially, he was going to release his experimental album, Rebirth, early in 2009 and follow with Tha Carter IV late in 2009. Things did not go as planned and the experimental album received many push-backs.
In the middle of 2009, Lil Wayne also decided to release an album featuring the acts signed to his Young Money imprint. After the constant push-backs of Rebirth, speculation began that the compilation album may be Wayne’s 2009 release.
At those rumors, Lil Wayne hit back, promising both Rebirth and Tha Carter IV on the same day. Now, it seems that the Young Money project has been forgotten. Now, Wayne is hinting at the possibility of packaging the Young Money album together with Rebirth to create a double album.
It would work out great, due to singles from both albums being released around the same time. Some are predicting that, alone, the Young Money album would not sell well and that Rebirth would not sell many copies alone, either. But, combining the two albums could create history-making sales.
Rebirth is set to be released on Young Money Entertainment and Universal Records on December 15, 2009.
