Lil Wayne’s Albums pushed back Again

There has not been an album in recent years to have as many push-backs as Lil Wayne’s Rebirth. Initially, the album was supposed to have been released in April with Wayne releasing Tha Carter IV towards the end of the year. The idea of Rebirth was for it to be an experimental album and Tha Carter IV was to be a regular rap album.

Universal Records was afraid that an album such as Rebirth would ruin Wayne’s image. As a result, they have frequently pushed the album back. The album was first set for release on April 7, then it was pushed back to June, later July, then November, and later December 15. During the summer, Lil Wayne said that Rebirth was ready and he was now working on Tha Carter IV.

Aside from his two albums, Lil Wayne was also helping to create a compilation album for his label, Young Money. That album featured the hit single, “Every Girl.” In between the release of Rebirth and Tha Carter IV was to be the Young Money album. However, the frequent push-backs of Rebirth and the anticipation of Carter IV have led to the Young Money disc being neglected.

To combat this and boost sales, Birdman announced that the Young Money album may be packaged into Rebirth. Lil Wayne later confirmed this, along with a December 15 release date for the album. Rebirth will no longer be released on December 15. The album has been pushed back until December 22, 2009. The Young Money album will also be released on the same date, separately.

Lil Wayne’s seventh studio album, Rebirth, will be released on December 22, 2009 on Young Money/Cash Money/Universal.
