Lil Wayne’s Attorney, Bradford Cohen, Denies That Wayne Turned MAGA Just So He Could Eventually Get Pardoned By Donald Trump

In the final hours of Donald Trump’s presidency, he issued over 100 pardons, as he planned before leaving office and Joe Biden is sworn in. Two of the most notable ones were Lil Wayne and Kodak Black. This is after over two weeks of speculation as to if this would really happen. The two received the pardons in addition to names such as Steve Bannon, Death Row Records Co-Founder, Michael “Harry-O” Harris, and former Mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick.

Wayne and Kodak oddly both endorsed Trump before the 2020 presidential election so this move isn’t surprising. Many believe that the two rappers turned MAGA just so they could get the pardons from Trump. Now, their attorney, Bradford Cohen, is speaking on Wayne’s behalf here and denied that this was the case.

“It never hurts that someone gets a full understanding of an individual when they’re just looking at a piece of paper,” Cohen said to the New York Times. “In hindsight, I guess it worked out. I think they had a very strong connection. He’s in the entertainment world. He’s got a style that’s similar in terms of the way that he carries himself, and a lot of rappers and people in the industry relate to that.”

Last month, Wayne plead guilty to illegally possessing a loaded weapon. This was regarding police finding a gold-plated Remington 1911, .45-caliber handgun loaded with six rounds of ammunition on a private jet. This was located at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport back in December 2019. Wayne was originally planned to be sentenced on March 3 and face 10 years in prison if convicted.
