LL Cool J talks “G.O.A.T. 2,” working with Troy Ave, and new music with DJ Self and DJ Superstar Jay [VIDEO]

LL Cool J DJ SelfUnlike guys like Jay-Z and Ja Rule, when LL Cool J was in his prime, he did not release a new album every year. During the promo run for Exit 13, LL Cool J explained this by saying he didn’t want to oversaturate the market. Many falsely assumed LL Cool J ended his career with Exit 13.

But, those who remember this period of time know that LL Cool J meant this was his final album for Def Jam. As fate would have it, LL Cool J found success with “NCIS: LA” and he fully committed to acting. But, LL Cool J began working on a new album in 2012 and it came in 2013 with Authentic.

LL Cool J is back at it, working on a sequel to G.O.A.T., G.O.A.T. 2, which he hopes to release this year. If the album does come in 2014, it will be the first time LL has released consecutive albums since Walking With A Panther and Mama Said Knock You Out in 1989 and 1990. But, he stopped by Shade 45 and talked to DJ Self and DJ Superstar Jay about his new album and his new single with Troy Ave.
