Take LL Cool J away and there is a major portion of Def Jam that never happened and the Russell Simmons legacy is probably much different. Furthermore, hip hop probably would have never become more than what some felt was only a trend. In other words, LL Cool J is a legend.
When it boils down to it, LL Cool J is the prototype of what a commercial rapper should be. During LL Cool J’s run, he put out countless love songs and also made some anthems the streets could appreciate. Early in his career, LL Cool J became the first rapper to do late night TV with Arsenio Hall.
