Ludacris announces Sixth Installment of “Fast & Furious” series
In 2001, one of the most-popular movies was The Fast and The Furious. The movie starred Vin Diesel and had a cameo appearance from Ja Rule. At the time, Ja Rule was the most-popular rapper in the game. Wanting to capitalize off Ja Rule’s popularity, the Queens rapper was offered a role with the overall franchise. Despite wanting to branch off and enter Hollywood, Ja Rule turned the offer down.
By 2003, Ja Rule’s popularity had diminished and Ludacris was recruited to star in the sequel, which was released during the summer of that year. 2 Fast 2 Furious went on to become one of the most-popular films of 2003. In 2006, Bow Wow starred in the third installment, which was called The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift.
The fourth installment came in 2009, simply titled Fast & Furious. The film was the first in the series, which did not feature a big-name rapper. However, Vin Diesel returned for the film and earler this year, Tyrese starred in Fast Five, with Vin Diesel. Ludacris, the star of 2 Fast 2 Furious, recently announced filming had taken place for Fast Six, which will hit theaters sometime in 2013. Apparently, Ludacris will be a part of the film.
