Often, New Yorkers are credited for their strong work ethic. But, when it came to hip hop, New York City was relatively slack. Jay-Z delivered an album every year, but “retired” in 2003 and no other rapper from the city stepped up to the plate. Now, ten years after the fact, there are several rising New York City rappers.

French Montana, A$AP Rocky, and Fred the Godson are among the leading emcees, in terms of popularity, from this new generation. But, there are other rappers making noise, including Brooklyn’s Maffew Ragazino, Joey Bada$$, and Troy Ave. Ragazino is working on his White Gold album.

While other rappers are in the spotlight for New York City, it is the releases of the blue collar rappers that keep the city going. Maffew Ragazino can be considered as one of these grinders for the city. Loyalty Digital recently spoke to Maffew Ragazino and he talked about his White Gold album.
