Makeda’s Cookies, Where Young Dolph Was Shot and Killed, Receives Over $72,000, in Donations

The city of Memphis is still grieving heavily, after the shooting death, of Young Dolph. Dolph was shot and killed at Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies, on November 17, by two men. Dolph was a frequent customer, at this establishment.

Makeda’s has since started a GoFundMe account, in order to raise more money for the business, as they are temporarily closed. Their store has since been boarded up, as fans have been using the store, as a memorial, for now.

On Makeda’s GoFundMe, the donations continue to roll in, as they are now at over $72,000. This comes as the business is letting employees take as much time off as they need, to emotionally heal. They also plan to continue to compensate them, during this time.

“In the aftermath, the store that was just repaired after burglaries will now have to begin again. Young Dolph was helping them attract more customers by frequently visiting and posting to help increase revenue. Unfortunately, this black owned business is now being forced to repair once more while hurting. They will also be unable to pay their staff or replace their revenue that this main store generates. The staff will also need security as there has been an additional shooting that occurred on the following day steps away their bakery. They will also need grief counseling to process witnessing the murder of someone they considered family.  Also, due to the fact that this tragedy was not fire, flood or natural disaster, their insurance claim was denied.”

A week ago, Makeda’s also posted a video of Dolph, to their Instagram feed. This was after he purchased several of his favorite cookies. Makeda’s is in Dolph’s native South Memphis area.
