It has gotten to the point that everything Lil Wayne says becomes headline news, especially when he says something on MTV. Recently, MTV News caught up with Lil Wayne, speaking with him about various topics. While he was in the interview, Lil Wayne discussed the performances he did with Nicki Minaj in New York City.
Over the past five years, Lil Wayne has had an interesting relationship with New York City, signing Jae Millz, Cory Gunz, and Nicki Minaj from the city. However, Lil Wayne also spent a night in jail with Ja Rule in New York City, which led to a year at Riker’s Island. If Lil Wayne holds some aggression toward the city, it should be understandable.
New York State Senator, Malcom Smith, however, was outraged when he learned Lil Wayne revealed he “flat out doesn’t like New York City.” Smith demanded an apology at 3:00 pm in the heart of New York City at Times Sqaure. Obviously, this did not happen, but Senator Smith did release a statement regarding Lil Wayne’s comments.
Read an excerpt of the statement below:
“New York City is the birthplace of the Hip Hop music movement. Millions of New Yorkers listen to his music every day. His comments is outraged his local fans and residents. The group today will be demanding an apology of the hip hop star. Lil Wayne has had misfortune in New York with recent gun charges and a jail sentence.”
