Man arrested for chasing teens with gun at Whitehaven High over son’s shoes

Man arrested for chasing teens with gun at Memphis high school

A crazy incident took at Whitehaven High School in Memphis. 42-year-old Saneko Payne was arrested. He allegedly chased two teenagers through the school corridors while visibly armed. The incident, which led to charges of Carrying a Weapon on School Property and Criminal Trespassing, occurred on April 12.

According to Memphis Police, Payne, driven by accusations that some students had stolen his son’s shoes, entered the school during hours and pursued the teenagers into a classroom. A teacher present during the incident reported that Payne was visibly upset and had a firearm on his waist. He did not, however, draw the weapon or threaten anyone directly.

The teacher repeatedly instructed Payne to leave, emphasizing the illegality of his presence on school property with a gun. Her prompt action to contact school security eventually led to Payne’s departure from the premises before further escalation.

Payne later posted a $5,000 bond following his arrest. This case has raised significant concerns about security measures in schools and the extent parents go to address grievances involving their children. The community and local authorities are now scrutinizing existing security protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
