Mario talks Let Me Love You and Verzuz with Big Boy

Mario is a twenty year veteran in the game and “Let Me Love You” is his signature single. Nineteen years later, that’s still the song people think of. However, Mario recently returned with new music for the masses. The Baltimore singer recently returned with two new singles. First, Mario dropped “Used To Me,” with Ty Dolla $ign. After that, he released “Main One” with Tyga and Lil Wayne. Now, Mario has returned to Big Boy’s Neighborhood to discuss his latest.

Mario rose to fame in the summer of 2002, just before his sixteenth birthday. His initial claim to fame was his creative remake of Biz Markie’s “Just A Friend.” However, Mario rebranded the song to “Just A Friend 2002.” He completely changed the instrumental and remade Biz Markie’s hook, singing it. After that, he made a dance/R&B record out of Biz’s hip hop classic. In addition, Mario had Biz Markie make a cameo in the music video.

Mario sat down with Big Boy, for “Big Boy’s Neighborhood,” recently. During the interview, he explained how he came up. A gifted vocalist since his toddler days, Mario revealed he and Mo’Nique’s son were in a group. After that, Mario explained how he wound up in the streets, and how his first manager adopted him. In addition, he told a story of meeting Alicia Keys just before she dropped “Fallin.'” Also, he spoke on “Just A Friend,” Ne-Yo, Omarion and Verzuz, and his new music.
