The original rapper/businessman is Master P and he showed rappers how to truly get their true value out of their work. Since then, he’s become overshadowed by the likes of Jay Z and Dr. Dre. Still, Master P remains a major factor.
Watching Straight Outta Compton inspired Master P’s latest venture, a biopic of his own. Titled Ice Cream Man: King of the South, Master P details his rise from poverty to being on top of the music world in the film. Recently, Queen Latifah was cast to play his mother.
Celebrating his birthday, Master P invited HipHopDX into his studio, where he spoke on the movie. He confirmed Queen Latifah playing in his film and he discussed some of his business moves, past and present. Master P also delivered surprising news of Birdman trying to get him to purchase Cash Money Records, early on, adding another layer to their rivalry.
