McDonald’s worker fires gun at customer’s car after order dispute
A McDonald’s drive-thru turned chaotic early Friday when an employee fired gunshots at a customer’s car following a heated argument over a messed-up order.
Chassidy Gardner, 22, was arrested by Lakeland Police after video footage showed her discharging a firearm during a confrontation at the drive-thru. The incident began with a complaint about a wrong order and escalated rapidly. As a result, one woman is behind bars.
Surveillance footage reveals Gardner tossing a drink at the customers through the drive-thru window. The customers retaliated by throwing cups and a liquid back at the employees. The tension heightened when one customer opened the drive-thru window and threw items inside.
“Words were exchanged, drinks and items were thrown, leading to an intense escalation,” reported the Lakeland Police Department.
Gardner, visibly agitated, exited the restaurant carrying a white tote containing a Glock 22. Witnesses reported hearing two gunshots as Gardner confronted the customers in the parking lot. One bullet struck the customer’s vehicle.
“Gardner claimed she fired warning shots out of fear for her life, not intending to hit anyone,” stated the police report.
Gardner now faces charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She is in police custody awaiting a court appearance.
