Tory Lanez was charged last week in allegedly shooting Megan The Stallion as he faces 22 years and eight months in prison if convicted. Lanez ended up speaking about the charges as he said the truth will come to light and how these are charges and not a conviction.
Megan has also posted a video to her Instagram feed as she wrote an op-ed for The New York Times. She again discussed the importance of protecting black women and also spoke on the situation regarding Lanez.
“I was recently the victim of an act of violence by a man. After a party, I was shot twice as I walked away from him. We were not in a relationship. Truthfully, I was shocked that I ended up in that place.”
Megan also explained why she was quiet about this case for so long. She revealed that she was in fear for herself and her friends. She also acknowledged that people initially didn’t believe her about her claims, as many still don’t today.
“My initial silence about what happened was out of fear for myself and my friends. Even as a victim, I have been met with skepticism and judgment. The way people have publicly questioned and debated whether I played a role in my own violent assault proves that my fears about discussing what happened were, unfortunately, warranted.”
Megan also performed on ‘Saturday Night Live’ two weeks ago where she uplifted black men and women while performing “Savage.” She also called out Kentucky Attorney General, Daniel Cameron, for not trying to obtain justice in the Breonna Taylor case.
