Metro Boomin’s “Heroes & Villains” on pace for number one debut

On Friday, Metro Boomin released his sophomore album, “Heroes & Villains.” The super producer delivered 15 songs, including star-studded appearances from The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Don Toliver, Young Thug, Future, and more. Metro also initially released a Heroes & Villains short film, which included various artists from the album.

The promotion ahead of Metro’s Heroes & Villains album was also impressive. He grouped each featured artist into heroes and villains categories, based on fan feedback. Metro also used comic book animations to announce the list of features.

Now, Metro is on his way to having a big first week, with Heroes & Villains. According to Chart Data, the album is on pace to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Unit projections are set at between 140,000-150,000 units. Heroes & Villains also went on to be streamed 30 million times on Spotify, in its opening day. This also makes it the third biggest opening day for a rap album in 2022, and the biggest ever for a producer.

Metro originally planned to put our Heroes & Villains in early November. However, sampling issues caused the album to be pushed back to December. This comes over four years after releasing his “Not All Heroes Wear Capes” debut album. Metro’s last project came back in October 2020, with his chart-topping joint album “Savage Mode II,” with 21 Savage.
