This past week, Cardi B’s “WAP” single featuring Megan Thee Stallion returned to being the No. 1 song in the US again after BTS’s “Dynamite” was on top for two weeks. WAP has been the most discussed single in the industry since its release in early August and has also been a controversial one due to its high sexual content.
Many Donald Trump supporters have bashed Cardi, Megan and the record and now, the latest hater is Michael Rapaport. He posted audio on his Instagram feed as he angrily mentioned how we have no clubs or strip clubs to go to to listen to music like this. He feels that Cardi and Megan should’ve created a collaboration that resonated with what people are going through during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Yo, you’re making club bangers, but we ain’t got no club to go to. You’re making strip pole music but we don’t have a strip club to go to. We’ve had seven f*ckin’ months. You’ve had seven f*ckin’ months to come out with something articulating your personal feelings, the anguish, the pain, the sorrow, the uncertainty of where we are,” he said of the recent civil unrest. “Just a single, and the best we got is wet ass p*ssy?”
Rapaport also acknowledged that J.Cole has been putting out some solid songs but they aren’t even “good J.Cole songs.” He feels that people should take this time to listen to Stevie Wonder instead.
“Yeah, sure, J. Cole put out a couple of—these are not even good J. Cole songs, to be honest,” Rapaport cotinued. “Yeah, he says great things… C’mon man. C’mon. Do yourself a favor these next couple of days. Play Stevie Wonder on a loop. We’re so disposable. We have access to mixtapes. We have access to every f*ckin’ song. Just live with Stevie for a few days.”
During these times, people want music that uplifts their mood. Cardi and Megan have done that with WAP. It’s sad that Rapaport doesn’t realize this and wants people to be sad all the time and not get back to normal life. Check out his rant below.
