For whatever reason, it seems like every Michael Jackson biopic has been garbage. Instead of appreciating Michael Jackson for the barriers he broke and the legacy he left, each biopic comes off like a parody. No, the man was not perfect, but he holds many of music’s current records.
Michael Jackson is the artist that every other artist patterns themselves after, whether they know it or not. When it comes to album sales, no one comes close, and likely never will. It’s a shame that these biopics rarely touch on these successes.
Lifetime still isn’t forgiven for that Aaliyah biopic, back in 2014, but they did a Michael Jackson movie. But, the Michael Jackson biopic, tonight, Searching For Neverland, is another one of those movies to get panned. Some people had nice comments about the film, but the general consensus is that BET should handle all major black celebrity biopics from here out.
