Rising to fame in the late 1990s, Mo’Nique was one of the original Queens of Comedy. Early in her mainstream career, Mo’Nique became known for her appearances on “Moesha.” This spawned “The Parkers,” where she took on the iconic role of Nikki Parker.

Last year, Hip Hop Vibe talked to Sommore, another Queen of Comedy, about that era. While she did not discuss Mo’Nique, it goes without saying what she provided to that time period. Recent years, however, have seen a shift from Mo’Nique into serious roles.

Mo’Nique recently stopped by Power 105.1 to talk to “The Breakfast Club” when she was in New York City. The interview was in-depth, as Mo’Nique explained the situation with Lee Daniels about “Empire,” clearing up the rumors. She went on to speak on her health, big women, her family, homosexuality, and much more.
