Mo’Nique talks Lee Daniels, “Empire,” homosexuality, and more with “Sway In The Morning” [VIDEO]

One of the original Queens of Comedy, Mo’Nique rose to fame in the early 2000s. For many years, she was best-known for her titular role on UPN sitcom, “The Parkers.” Years later, she hosted “Showtime At The Apollo” and her own talk show on BET.

Mo’Nique managed to branch out from just doing comedy to series roles when she was cast for Precious. One of the first Lee Daniels films to garner mainstream appeal, Precious is still often discussed. More success has come to Lee Daniels, with “Empire,” while Mo’Nique is not seen often.

When “Empire” premiered and had success, Mo’Nique spoke out and said she was originally targeted to play Cookie (Taraji P. Henson). This is something Lee Daniels and Danny Strong have both denied. But, Mo’Nique came to Shade 45 to speak to Sway at “Sway In The Morning” and she discussed the situation with Lee Daniels and “Empire,” homosexuality, and much more.
