Music legend Bobby Caldwell passes away at the age of 71

The world of jazz and soul music says goodbye to a legend. Reports surfaced confirming legend Bobby Caldwell has passed away at the age of 71. Bobby was surrounded by his wife who confirmed his death via Twitter. His wife also shared Bobby’s health situation, explaining that he suffered from FLOXED, a term describing devastating side effects that attack the nervous system, muscles and brain activity. In the tweet his wife shared Bobby’s last moments, stating “Bobby passed away here at home. I held him tight in my arms as he left us. I am forever heartbroken.”

Bobby Caldwell is coined as a pioneer of “blue-eyed soul.” In 1978 his iconic and now signature song “What You Won’t Do For Love,” hit the radio waves, becoming an overnight success. The unique single featured on his now double platinum debut album Bobby Caldwell, made him a superstar. His remarkable writing abilities led him to create more hits including Amy Grant’s number one single “Next Time I Fall.”

Despite releasing other music his iconic single “What You Won’t Do For Love,” is one of the most remixed songs in history. In fact, 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G, Lil NasX and recently Snoh Aalegra all sampled this classic. Bobby Caldwell left an incredible mark in jazz and soul music, he leaves behind no children.
