New Orleans hip hop enjoyed much success during the 1990s. No Limit Records emerged and took over the rap game. During the late 1990s, Cash Money Records also emerged and experienced tremendous success. The two labels had a bitter rivalry, which dated back to well before they were both established on the major scene. Mystikal, to date, is the only artist to have been signed to both labels.

Mystikal experienced most of his success, however, after he left No Limit and before he signed with Cash Money Records. At the peak of his career, Mystikal was sent to prison and was absent for six years. Upon returning, Mystikal eventually signed with Cash Money Records and he is currently working on his Original album. Mystikal, when speaking with Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club,” joked about how the rap game had changed.

During his interview, Mystikal discussed the No Limit/Cash Money feud, his comeback, the prison sentence, and much more.
