One of the most-pleasant surprises in hip hop in 2012 was the return of Mystikal. Birdman closed 2011 on a high note, signing Mystikal and Busta Rhymes. The addition of Mystikal made him the first artist to have been signed to both No Limit Records and Cash Money Records, the two biggest record labels from New Orleans.
When Mystikal began releasing new music, early in 2012, he revealed he held several discussions with Birdman in the past. Before he made his ultimate decision, however, Mystikal spoke with Master P, his former boss. After receiving advice from Master P, Mystikal would agree to sign with Cash Money Records.
Since signing with Cash Money Records, Mystikal immediately returned to notability in the rap game. In a short period of time, Mystikal has worked with Lil Wayne (his Cash Money label-mate), French Montana, Machine Gun Kelly, and others. ThisIs50.com would speak with Mystikal at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards and he discussed his signing.
