Mystikal has been fighting a rape case ever since 2016 when he was accused by a woman of committing this crime against her in a Shreveport, Louisiana casino. The New Orleans rapper ended up turning himself in in August 2017. He was charged with first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping and did 18 months in prison.

Mystikal ended up posting a $3 million bond last February and this was able to happen after getting a huge advance from a record deal. Now, this rape case is officially closed, per TMZ. According to a grand jury, the charges on the table are dismissed. A spokesperson from the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office went on to tell TMZ that there simply wasn’t enough evidence to move forward with the case.

Mystikal’s attorney, Joel Peace, also told the outlet that “new scientific evidence emerged causing the Grand Jury to take a second look at the rape allegations made against [him].” This also comes after Mystikal rejected a plea deal in March 2019. This was due to him believing that the victim’s claims weren’t valid enough. He has since addressed on Twitter by saying “Cleared!!! God is good.”

Mystikal has been performing since he got out of prison but it’s been years since he last released an album. The latest was his sixth studio album, ‘Tarantula,’ in 2001. That peaked at No. 25 on the Billboard 200 chart and went gold in the US.
