Growth is a natural part of life and what is now hip hop’s normal seemed like it would never happen a decade ago. One of Nas’ closest friends and rap associates is Jay-Z and he is the reason Nas is signed to Def Jam. Only a few years prior, the two battled in a historic rap beef.
Nas is credited with having the edge in the beef with Jay-Z because of his scathing track, “Ether.” It was rumored that Jaz-O gave Nas the information for the diss record and soon he and Jay-Z cut ties. The following year, Jay-Z addressed Nas on the title track, “Blueprint 2,” where he admitted defeat and dissed Jaz-O.
On “Blueprint 2,” Jay-Z calls Nas a false prophet and the rap version of T.D. Jakes, who has found success writing films. Eleven years after these shots were fired, Nas has made a power move. Ironically, he attended a party with T.D. Jakes and took a picture with he and his wife.
