Nas, Run-DMC, T.I. & more headline Hip-Hop 50 concert in NYC

Friday marked the official 50-year anniversary of hip-hop. As a result, the legendary music genre was celebrate inside of Yankee Stadium in The Bronx, which is home to Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees, as well as the original birthplace of hip-hop. This event was the Hip-Hop 50 concert, which was brought by Nas‘ Mass Appeal record label, as Hip-HopVibe was on site. This comes amid Nas’ releasing his new “Magic 2” project with Hit-Boy a week ago, which marked their fifth project released together, since 2020.

Therefore, Hip-Hop 50 was filled with performances from various hip-hop legends. These included Run DMC, Snoop Dogg, T.I., Nas, Lauryn Hill, Trina, Fat Joe, Slick Rick, Lil Kim, Ice Cube, and much more. Furthermore, various special guest appearances were also made, such as Lauryn Hill during Nas set, Ashanti during Fat Joe’s set, and Too $hort and Scar Lip, Wiz Khalifa, and Doug-E-Fresh during Snoop Dogg’s set.

As a result, hip-hop was celebrated in a legendary way, right inside the area of New York City, where the genre started. Hip-Hop 50 contained various legends from different regions that the genre has been prospering in, over the last 50 years.
