Life is Good is arguable the most-personal album in Nas’ career, as he chronicles his failures as both a husband and father. Two years ago, Nas had a very high-profile divorce from his wife, Kelis. When the two wed, their relationship quickly became the topic of discussion.
Only months after Nas and Kelis had their first child, it was revealed their marriage was in trouble. Following the trend of many other high-profile relationships, the two eventually divorced. In the time since then, Nas has been recording music and Kelis has been spending time with their child.
Before Nas began performing his new songs at Cameo in Miami, he discussed his divorce from Kelis. Nas discussed Kelis before his performance of “Bye Baby,” which details his high-profile divorce. Right before he began performing the song, Nas said it was dedicated to his ex.
