Niatia (Lil Mama) on defending Chris Brown, being a meme, and her new journey on Hot 97 [VIDEO]

In 2007, Lil’ Mama appeared to be the leader of the new generation of female rappers. Boasting a co-sign from Lil’ Kim, the potential was there and then she scored two hit singles. Her decision to interrupt Jay-Z’s performance at the VMAs ended up being costly, however.

Lil’ Mama endured the death of her mother, which was followed by her infamous confrontation with Charlamagne on “The Breakfast Club.” In 2013, things began to turn around for her, though. She would play the role of Left Eye in the TLC biopic on VH1.

Now, Lil’ Mama is expanding her acting chops, even more, playing in the TV One film, When Love Kills. Last week, she paid a visit to Hot 97, sitting down with Ebro, Laura Stylez, and Rosenberg. She would explain why she defended Chris Brown, talk about the memes of her, and her current career moves.
