Over the weekend, and this week, the world learned Nicki Minaj has not lost a step. Coming into the QUEEN album, Nicki Minaj was really being counted out. Much of this was due to Remy Ma dissing her and the subsequent rise of Cardi B to the top of the charts.

What people have overlooked is that it’s highly possible for multiple female rappers to be successful. When speaking on her backlash, Nicki spoke of a discussion she and Jay-Z had. According to Nicki Minaj, he told her, it’s her position people want, so it’s nothing personal.

Nicki Minaj recently sat down with Rob Markman for Genius. The two broke down lyrics off the QUEEN album and really got into it. Speaking on her backlash, Nicki Minaj played the gender card, as she also got into it about Remy Ma, Lil’ Kim, Cardi B, and even Foxy Brown.
