Nicki Minaj cancels SAGA Festival performance due to protests

On Sunday night, Nicki Minaj was initially scheduled to headline the final day of the SAGA Festival in Bucharest, Romania. However, Nicki confirmed on Sunday morning, that she would not go on to perform. That came as a result of ongoing protests in the Bucharest area, regarding fiscal policies in the country.

Furthermore, Nicki emphasized that she needs to protect herself, as a mother. She also needed to make sure that her team can safely return to their families, as well.

“Out of concern for the well-being of our team and myself, I have been advised by my security detail not to travel to Romania’s festival tonight due to safety concerns regarding protests in the area. I look forward to seeing you all at another time. As a mom, I have to make sure I’m making sound decisions for me to make it home to my son and for my team to make it home to their families.”

Nicki Minaj is currently on the European/UK leg of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. The second US leg of the tour will kick off on September 4, in Philadelphia.
