Nicki Minaj is the first Female Rapper to Debut at Number One on U.K. album charts
Making history has become “the norm” for Nicki Minaj. Two years ago, Nicki Minaj established herself as a force in the game. Nicki Minaj had dominated the mixtape scene for two years before being signed by Young Money. After signing with Young Money, Nicki Minaj collaborated with Ludacris on “My Chick Bad” and Usher on “Lil’ Freak,” two of the first summer hits in 2010.
From the summer hits came Nicki Minaj’s first official single, “Your Love,” displaying her singing voice, instantly becoming a hit. Nicki Minaj was immediately one of the most-popular rappers in the game. The United States was not the only place where Nicki Minaj found her popularity rising. Across the pond, the United Kingdom was growing hip to Nicki Minaj and she has some of her biggest supporters out there.
Last year, Nicki Minaj rode the wave of Pink Friday, her debut album, with her international popularity continuing to rise. Nicki Minaj recently released her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. While critics have tossed the album for being pop centric, the overall fans love the album. The United Kingdom loves Roman Reloaded so much they decided to help her make history again. Nicki Minaj has now become the first female rapper in history to have an album debut at number one on the United Kingdom album charts.
