The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards will official be held on August 28, at the Prudential Center, in Newark, NJ. Several performers have already been announced, which include J Balvin, Anitta, Marshmellow, and more.

Now, the official nominee for MTV’s annual Video Vanguard award, has officially been announced. This will go to Nicki Minaj, who has been one of music’s biggest stars, over the past 13 years. This award is given to an artist who’s made “outstanding contributions” and “profound impact” on music video and popular culture.

Nicki Minaj has had a huge 2022, as she’s released three singles. These include “Bussin” featuring Lil Baby, “Do We Have A Problem” featuring Lil Baby, and “We Go Up,” featuring Fivio Foreign. Nicki’s upcoming “Super Freaky Girl” single will also be out on August 12. This all hints to Nicki possibly finally releasing her first album since August 2018’s “Queen.”

In addition to Nicki’s award, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow are tied for the most nominations at this year’s VMAs, with seven each. Each of these artists has put out a top two album, over the past year.
